YPO (Young Presidents Organisation) Network & Talk Evening
I had heard about WPO (Worlds Presidents Organisation) & YPO (Young Presidents Organisation) a while ago, but a chance encounter on a local neighbourhood website connecting locals with businesses is what plunged me into the WPO & YPO world. I started off with spouse dinners, cooking demos, and became the go to caterer for their private parties and even a wedding too.
The organisation provides a unique educational and networking experiences designed to support their business, community and personal leadership. The organisation was founded in 1950, it provides over 24,000 peers and their families in more than 130 countries.
On this particular evening I was invited by the YPO Family member Stella Afnaim to come and give an inspirational talk about my career and how I set up my business. Since everyone was coming straight from work I wanted this to be a fun evening of food, laughter and most of all something valuable they could take away.
I started out by a brief talk about my background from transitioning from banking to catering. This was followed by a cooking demo and an informal sharing banquet where I got a chance to talk to individuals about their personal experiences.
Meeting young graduates from my university was a trip down memory lane. The following day getting a personal note, saying that if someone from our university could achieve this, then i was anything was possible for them too.
My objective of the evening was for people to feel that anything is possible and that being true to yourself is the only way one can make the business unique and successful. The best thing about it was meeting a lovely bunch of people who are now following me and have also invited me to speak at other networking evening.
A special thanks to Tracey Rose for introducing me to YPO & WPO, and to Stella Afnaim, who was a great host for this networking event.
